Quebec Snowmobile Insurance
Registration, insurance and training — compulsory for
snowmobiles in Quebec!
Registration and insurance
You can register your snowmobile at a CAA-Quebec
registration centre. However, registration costs for your
snowmobile, unlike those for your road vehicles, do not include SAAQ
insurance. Snowmobile riders therefore need to take out third-party
liability insurance (minimum $500,000), whether you intend to ride
on your private land or on a trail. To use the private snowmobile trails in Quebec, you must belong
to a snowmobile club and pay trail maintenance fees to the club.
These access fees include $500,000 in third-party liability
insurance.
Certificate of competence for young
snowmobile riders
The minimum age for operating an off-road vehicle, including
a snowmobile, is 16.
